This past fall, our college-aged son moved home to save money and brought a guest — a large black-and-white cat of uncertain origin named Swiper. For a time, Swiper lived in the garage with our son, but as the weather got colder, they moved inside.
This presented a dilemma. I wasn’t having a cat in the house, as 1) I am highly allergic to cats, 2) I hate cats, and 3) we already have a pet, a West Highland terrier named Sophie. I personally hoped my son would put the cat on craigslist, something he thought was “insensitive.” Go figure.
But Swiper couldn’t exactly stay outside.
