LOL at these cats in a friendly way

Yes, they're everywhere on the Internet and at film festivals. But the Denver Dumb Friends League wants to get the real, 3-D, purring-like-motorboat critters into your house and in your face. The DFL's “We're Everywhere … Except Your Lap” campaign is out to promote cat adoptions. While there's no specific adoption special planned (fees to adopt cats at least a year old are only $10) the league tends to becomes chock-a-block with adoptable felines in spring and early summer. (And on May 4, canines will steal the spotlight in the league's annual Furry Scurry fundraiser, so it was time for cats to get their dig in). Is there a cat video to go with this? Silly question. bit.ly/YY8ns3 or ddfl.org

Go far, far away for the animals

You'd make sure your pets were well cared for if you happened to nab a trip to Barbados, a South African photo safari or a getaway to the Canadian Arctic, wouldn't you? Those are just some of the live auction items that'll be on the block at Puttin' on the Leash, the Boulder Valley Humane Society's annual fundraiser at 6 p.m. April 27 at the Coors Event Center in Boulder. Guests include Channel 7 meteorologist Mike Nelson and Broadway Animal Hospital veterinarian Lee Woods. Tickets start at $60 per person (21 and older only). boulderhumane.org
