On Sunday, April 14, Boone will host the final stop on the North Shore Animal League America's “Tour for Life.”
The 13th annual tour will stop in 53 cities across 27 states to partner with local shelters for adoption fairs. The “Mobile Adoption Units” will pick up animals from the Watauga Humane Society and the four surrounding counties to display during the adoption event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 14 at Walmart in Boone.
The Humane Society shelter will be closed to the public April 14 for the event.
Last year's Tour for Life helped find homes for more than 1,500 animals across the country.
Anyone interested in sponsoring a Tour for Life animal or making a donation may contact Susanna Russell at (828) 264-7865.
