Animal rescue group holding pet adoption event

Cache Creek Animal Rescue will have dogs and cats available for adoption from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Shorewood Petco, Route 59 and Black Road.

The event will be repeated Feb. 15 and 16. A variety of cats and dogs will be available.

Adoption fees are $300 for dogs and $100 for cats. All the animals have been spayed or neutered and have a recent rabies vaccination and other age-appropriate basic vaccines.

Dogs have been tested for heartworm, kittens are tested for leukemia and cats 6 months and up are given a feline leukemia combo test, which includes FIV.

All the animals have been microchipped, and the microchip will be registered to the new owner after adoption.

Cache Creek is a licensed not-for-profit no-kill animal shelter in downstate Anna. It rescues animals from high-kill shelters in nine Illinois counties and occasionally take animals from Kentucky, Missouri and other states.

Cache Creek also receives stray animals from Lemont. In 2011, the village of Lemont donated an ambulance to the agency, with its name and paw prints painted on its sides by another donor, Reeds Automotive Enterprises.
