Star the dog that was shot 174 days ago by a New York police officer (NYPD), is ready for adoption according to the National Greyhound Adoption Program (NGAP).
Star was shot in August while she was protecting her former owner who was in the middle of a seizure. The Officer’s did not know they were being recorded at the time, and the video of Star’s shooting quickly went viral. The public was shocked that Star had survived the point blank shot to the head and even more shocked when she survived (without medical care) the 10 day holding period at the Animal Care and Control of NYC (ACCNYC).
Because Star’s shooting became a high profile case with the release of the video, the Mayors Alliance of New York took custody of Star and she was sent to recover at a NGAP facility in Pennsylvania.
