Pet adoptions discounted for month of December

During December, Ventura County Animal Services will reduce pet adoption fees at its Camarillo and Simi Valley shelters to encourage residents to adopt stray animals during the holidays.

Through Dec. 30, dog and cat adoption fees will be lowered to $60 during the VCAS “Take Me Home for the Holidays” pet adoption event. The regular pet adoption fee is $125.

For families hoping that Santa will bring a new pet, VCAS is selling $60 pet adoption gift certifi cates. The certificates are good for 30 days and allow recipients to visit a VCAS shelter in January to choose a pet that is perfect for their family.

When adopted, all VCAS dogs and cats come with a certifi cation of surgical sterilization, preliminary vaccinations, first rabies vaccine, Ventura County animal license, implanted trovan microchip and a certificate for a free health exam at any participating Ventura County veterinarian’s office. In addition, dog adoptions include a free sixweek obedience class.
