County Reduces Pet Adoption Fees for December

Christmas could come early for some shelter animals thanks to the Prince George’s County Animal Management Division (AMD).

Through the month of December, AMD is inviting residents to adopt dogs and cats at reduced fees as part of its “All I Want for the Holidays is…You.”

“Fulfill the holiday wish of a homeless animal at the Animal Services Facility by giving them the gift of a loving home,” Rodney Taylor, associate director of AMD, said in press release. “I encourage you to visit the Facility this holiday season to find the perfect pet for your family.”

Dog adoption fees will be $100, a savings of $100; and cat adoption fees will be $45, also a $100 savings, according to the press release. AMD will also waive adoption fees for a second kitten or cat if you adopt two at once. Adoption fees include the cost of microchip, vaccinations, a county pet license and spay/neuter surgery.

When I did rescue, I always told people two are better then one, young cats, they have someone to play with. If a pair came in together, it was better for them to be adopted together. People did not need to listen to me,of course. It has been 7 years since I worked with cats. I miss my pay, lots of kitty kisses and purrs. I have my own, nothing better then a warm, soft cat or 4,5,6! We had our cats at Petsmart. I tried to never have the kittens. The older one got overlooked.
