Since Hurricane Sandy struck the Jersey Shore last month, the Monmouth County SPCA (MCSPCA) has been coming to the aid of many displaced and devastated pet owners by handing out food to the many families that are in need. They also have been collecting donations to help the animals of displaced families in the area as well as the animals that reside at the Homeward Bound Adoption Center.
Today, the MCSPCA van is planning to be in the Highlands, Union Beach, Port Monmouth and Keansburg areas distributing food and some other pet related supplies.
“During this difficult time we have also converted our Maureen O'Brien Cats & Dogs Thrift Store into our Pet Pantry for our emergency pet food distribution center,” said Lisa Mulhearn, public relations for the MCSPCA. “We not only take in donations at that location, but also distribute food to the many families in need due to the damage they have suffered from the storm.”
