Iams® Home 4 the Holidays (IH4TH) — one of the world’s most successful pet adoption programs — along with select Albertsons stores is hosting in-store events to help raise awareness of the importance of pet adoption.
On October 28 and November 2 and 3, deserving puppies, kittens, dogs and cats will put their best paw forward at meet-and-greet events as neighborhood shelters introduce these adoptable animals to shoppers.
“Albertsons is committed to looking for ways to enrich the lives of our shoppers and their pets,” says Lanny Hoffmeyer, SUPERVALU’s category director for paper and pet. “We are proud to once again partner with Home 4 the Holidays and give our customers an opportunity to connect with animals that can enhance their lives for years.”
About three to four million cats and dogs are euthanized in U.S. shelters each year — that’s one about every eight seconds. Representatives will be on-hand to show off their special four-legged friends, answer questions and provide further information for shoppers who are considering adoption and helping to reverse this trend.
“By having an adoption event at our local grocery store it allows us to help find homes and stay in contact with the people that adopt our animals,” says Terre Huyter, owner of Tails a Wagging animal rescue in Wildomar. “It also gives us a great opportunity to educate and teach the importance of pet adoption to our community.”
