Events for pet lovers set in October in Alvin, TX

Three special events will take place during the month of October in Alvin.

Those who are working hard to make all of the events successful, are “Calling all dog lovers”.

Alvin Animal Control officers will be at Wal Mart, 400 Hwy. 35 from 9 a.m. to noon, with a variety of dogs which are available for adoption.

Applications will be available, and can be filled out and turned in that day, if a person or family would like to adopt one of the dogs or cats.

Along with the adoption event will be a low cost dog and cat vaccination clinic, from 9 a.m. to noon. This event, sponsored by the Animal Welfare League of Alvin (AWLA), will allow residents to have their pets shots administered at low costs. Rabies, heartworm testing and preventative, flea preventative, microchipping and other services will be available in order for owners to protect their pets from harmful diseases.

The second event is one that has been long awaited by animal lovers in the area. The dedication of the land where the new shelter will stand is set for Sunday, Oct. 21 next to the current location on Hwy. 6.
