Musicians come together for animal shelter benefit

All paws are on deck for an upcoming fundraiser to benefit the Sayreville Pet Adoption Center.

After a March fundraiser brought in thousands of dollars and needed supplies for the shelter, a second fundraiser, “Paws for a Cause-Part Deux,” will be held Nov. 11 at Rumor 35 in South Amboy to support the pups in need of a good home.

“I got so excited to do a follow-up that I just made it for November,” said Kenny Diaz, the fundraiser coordinator. “In March, the turnout was impressive, the amount of feedback we received was great, and the amount of local support we received was wonderful.”

November’s fundraiser will feature several musical acts of the rock and blues genres, raffles, and a cash 50/50 drawing with the proceeds going towards the animal shelter. Musical acts include Nick Clemons, whose late father, Clarence, was Bruce Springsteen’s longtime saxophonist; Michale Graves, the second singer with band The Misfits; and several other acts that will go on throughout the evening.

Diaz said that one of the prizes being raffled is a $500 guitar donated by guitarmaker Ibanez.
