If you’re a dog lover, October will be throwing you quite a few bones. Several social and adoption events in the El Paso area will be going on this month.
It starts this Saturday at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing, 1 Ardovino Drive in Sunland Park, with the third annual Brunch & Barks.
Guests can take their well-behaved and leashed pooches for a morning on the Del Camino Patio. From 8 a.m. to noon, there will be pet adoptions, grooming services, pet-geared vendors, professional pet photography and dog food fare (and stuff for people to eat, too). Stylish hounds can compete in a costume contest starting at 11 a.m.
Take a donation of cleaning supplies, new or gently used collars, leashes, or canned dog or cat food, and your pet will receive a doggy treat.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Animal Rescue League of El Paso. Reservations are recommended.
Information and reservations: 575-589-0653.
Dog Lover’s Fair: The El Paso Saddleblanket, 6926 Gateway East, along with the Humane Society of El Paso, will host its sixth annual Dog Lover’s Fair and Dog Adoption Extravaganza from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 13 in the Saddleblanket parking lot.
More than 100 dogs will be offered for adoption by 12 nonprofit animal rescue groups from El Paso, West Texas and Southern New Mexico.
