During this election season, PetSmart Charities is urging Facebook users to take a break from politics and focus on “pawlitics.”
PetSmart Charities is pushing pet adoption, offering a United for Adopted Pets badge via its Facebook page as well as conducting an online poll in which users choose between dogs and cats, the results of which will be unveiled Oct. 25.
The company said its latest “water dish” poll found that:
41 percent of pet lovers prefer dogs, while 21 percent chose cats, and 38 percent said they love both.
76 percent will adopt their next pet, dog or cat, and not buy it.
PetSmart Charities Campaign Manager Laura Ingalls said:
We believe all pets are created equal. Whether they’re dog or cat, purebred or mixed breed, every pet deserves a lifelong, loving home. The 8 million pets in shelters each year are counting on Americans to stop the hissing and barking and support one life-saving policy: pet adoption.
