Cat Adoption Fair Comes To Petco Saturday

If you’re looking for a new addition to the family, Petco invites the public to their cat adoption fair on Saturday. The Shelter, Humane Society and Pet Paw-See have teamed up with Petco to try to find kittens a forever home.

” There is a need you know, to find abandoned animals homes rather than to sell breeded animals,” says Gilbert Aldrich General Manager of Petco. “That’s why we partner up with these groups to do it here at the store and make it a fun environment.”

Aldrich says around this time of year the number of abandonded animals is high and urges people to be responsible pet owners.

“Education is an important part of it, you know so please spay or neuter your cats, so you know, we don’t end up with all these animals that need to find homes, ” says Aldrich.

The ASPCA says there is 70 million stray cats in the United States. If you have a dog and are hesistant to include a cat in your family, Aldrich says cats and dogs can definitely coexist.

“I’ve got three dogs and three cats at home and they’re all brothers and sisters. I’ve got a cat that pretty much, I’m pretty sure thinks he’s a dog.”
