ANCHORAGE, Alaska— Officials at the Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center are calling this weekend's discounted cat adoption program a success.
In honor of the building's 25th anniversary and National Homeless Animals Day, the center cut adoption fees to $12 for cats. Normal adoption fees can range anywhere from $42 to $142.
Officials in a release say 37 adult cats and five kittens were adopted over the weekend. In fact, that left only one cat at the facility at the end of the business day Sunday.
Friends of Pets helped cover the cost of spay or neutering for the weekend.
