Cat and kitten adoptions: Members of the Staten Island Council for Animal Welfare will be in the cat adoption room at Petsmart, 1520 Forest Ave., Port Richmond from 1 to 4 p.m. to help visitors get to know the cats available for adoption.
Doggie boot camp, for dogs with their people, at Von Briesen Park in Fort Wadsworth, 1 to 3 p.m. Certified master trainer/animal behavior specialist Alice Marino leads the group to help dogs learn socialization skills and good behavior. The weekly class is free of charge with a suggested $10 donation to help cover park fees. Class size is limited, reservations required for each session.
