‘Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat’ for just $50 at the Stevens-Swan Humane Society – WKTV News Channel 2

Due to the on-going abundance of cats, adoption fees for cats and kittens have been reduced at the Stevens-Swan Humane Society of Oneida County. The animal shelter is filled with cats of all ages, breeds, sizes and colors. Until the end of July, the regular adoption fee of $70 for adult cats (over a year old)  and $75 for kittens will be discounted to just $50 per cat.

This special promotion applies to all new cat adoptions at the Stevens-Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio Street, Utica (Past the Riverside Center) and also at the SSHS cat adoption center at PETSMART in Consumer Square, New Hartford.

Studies show that cats can add years to their owner’s lives and bringing a cat into a household has a calming effect on humans, causing blood pressure to drop and the heart rate to slow.

Included in the month of July’s special $50 cat adoption fee are:

The spay/neuter procedure

Feline Leukemia/ AIDS/ Heartworm testing

First vaccinations

Topical flea treatment

A 5lb. bag of Science Diet cat food

Cardboard carrier

Hours of operation at the Stevens – Swan Humane Society shelter are: 11a – 5p Tuesday through Friday, 11a -4p Saturdays and 11a – 2p on Sundays (Closed Mondays). The cat adoption hours at the PETSMART location are: 9a – 4:30p Tuesdays through Friday and 9a – 5p on Saturday and Sunday.
