North Florida Animal Rescue in Suwannee County will hold a pet adoption event on July 28.
The free event is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the nonprofit’s headquarters, 16800 County Road 137, Wellborn.
Dogs and cats will be available for adoption and family-friendly activities are also planned, according to a news release.
“It’s all about getting animals into loving, permanent homes,” Pam Taylor, Director of Rescue and Adoptions, said in the release. “We’ll have volunteers walking our available dogs near the festivities. You’ll be able to spot them by their ‘Adopt Me’ bandanas. It’s kind of hard to walk cats, so we’ll have volunteers in our adoption center who will assist anyone interested in cats or kittens.”
Activities include three-legged races, sack races, hayrides, watermelon eating contests and a fishing game with prize. Food vendors will be on hand with hamburgers and other picnic foods and volunteers will be selling water and cold watermelon slices.
Also, a pet parade will be held. Pets brought onto the property must be up to date on their vaccinations and be on a leash, according to the release.
Adoption fees will be $90 dogs and puppies, $15 for cats and $25 for kittens. All animals will have been vetted for disease, be up to date on shots, spayed or neutered and mirco-chipped.
