A casino night fundraiser will be held by Westminster Adoption Group Services, also known as WAGS Pet Adoption, July 14, 2012 at Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach. It will go from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm.
The fun event is designed to increase public awareness of the organization and its goals, according to Michelle Russillo, spokesperson for the group.
Named the “WAG$ to Riche$ Casino Night Fundraiser,” the event is the first to be sponsored by Westminster Adoption Group Services. They have been contracted by the City of Westminster since 2011 to assist with stray animals picked up by city services.
“We are dedicated to providing care, advocacy and shelter for lost and homeless animals,” says Russillo. “We shelter and care for these animals, investigate and combat animal cruelty, rescue neglected pets, treat sick and injured strays—and help educate our community about responsible pet care and its related issues.”
Proceeds from the evening will go to this and other activities which help place animals in new homes, adds Russillo.
Dr. Tia Greenberg, the founder of the group, has her own veterinary practice in Westminster. She notes that the rescued pets receive the same standard of veterinary care as others brought to her practice. “Before a homeless animal is adopted out it receives medical care, behavioral evaluation, spaying or neutering, a microchip implant, vaccinations, flea medication, deworming and ultrasound as indicated by breed or medical condition.”
