Dogs for dads: Lower adoption fees for Father’s Day

Still looking for that perfect gift for dad as Father’s Day gets closer?

Orange County Animal Services said it is offering adoption promotions this weekend, so man can be paired up with man’s best friend.

The usual fee to adopt a pet from Orange County Animal Services is $55.

But this Saturday only, adoption fees are being reduced to anywhere from $15 to absolutely FREE.

“Dogs are often thought of as ‘man’s best friend,’ and that’s definitely a sentiment that we agree with,” said Dil Luther, division manager of Orange County Animal Services. “There is a great bond between a family and their dog, and we’re hoping that this promotion helps many of our dogs find the wonderful homes they deserve.”

The shelter, located at 2769 Conroy Road, near the Mall at Millenia, said it currently has about 100 dogs looking for new homes. The promotion is limited to one dog per household.

“In the past, our one day adoption promotions have proved to be very successful in finding homes for our shelter pets,” said Luther. “If adopting is right for you, please consider adopting a family member from our shelter this Saturday.”

The shelter is open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Each dog adopted will come with an embedded microchip, lab tests for diseases and a 5-pound bag of dog food.
