Orange Animal Services has ‘Daily Specials’ for Adopt a Shelter Cat Month – Orlando Sentinel

It’s National Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, and during June, Orange Animal Services is offering “Daily Specials” on adoption fees to help find homes for cats 6 months and older.

Here’s the lineup: Meow Mondays: free adult cats; Tabby Tuesdays: free adult tabby cats; Wacky Wednesdays: half off regular adoption prices for adult cats; Two-Cat Thursdays: adopt two adult cats for the price of one; and Fancy Fridays: free black and tuxedo adult cats.

Each cat adoption includes spay/neuter; initial vaccinations; microchip identification; deworming; FLV/FIV test; rabies vaccination and Adoption Welcome Kit.

For more information, visit ocnetpets.com or call 407-254-9140.

Animal Services is located at 2769 Conroy Road in Orlando near the Mall at Millenia.

Statistically, adult cats have a more difficult time getting adopted at shelters nationwide.

“We first initiated the ‘Daily Specials’ last year, and it was a big hit with adopters,” said Dil Luther, division manager. “We’re hoping this year it will be even more successful and will help many of our cats get adopted. During the summer months, we receive more cats than any other time of year, so finding homes for them now is critical.”

I’ve always had older cats and they make wonderful companions. And they never lose that kitten charm. While I was typing this, my 6-year-old Princess was doing somersaults on my keyboard!
