Last week a starving mother hound dog and her 11 puppies were found abandoned in a yard in Horseshoe Bay by a caring animal rescue volunteer, without whom they would have died within hours.
Living Love Rescue and Happy Dog Adoption found food, shelter and two foster homes to care for and try to save these animals.
Sandra Santee of Living Love Rescue said the puppies started out in Cottonwood Shores. They showed up at a young couple’s yard, but by the time she could make arrangements for the couple to be foster “owners,” the husband had moved them.
Santee said her group started checking with area law enforcement and animal rescue groups, looking for the animals that were eventually found at the Christ Yoder shelter, and that Christ Yoder staff said they had been found in Horseshoe Bay.
Santee called Happy Dog Adoption and Catherine Berry said she had a foster family lined up.
Santee said all the puppies had received their first shots and would get their second shots Sunday, and that the mother also has all necessary shots.
They are available for adoption by calling Living Love Rescue at 512.755.4476 or Happy Dog Adoption at 512.793.4197.
