Pet adoption set for Saturday – The Brewton Standard

Pet lovers will have a chance to add a new member to their family this weekend — at a fraction of the regular cost.

Christina Green, supervisor at the Brewton Animal Control Center, said adoption fees have been reduced for a one-day-only adoption event Saturday.

“We have taken in a lot of animals since we began animal control services in Brewton,” Green said. “We have been really active and have several pets here that need to find a good home.”

Adoption fees for dogs and puppies is reduced to $15 each with fees for cat and kitten adoption reduced to $10 each.

“We wanted to make it more affordable for animal lovers to add a pet to their families and find good homes for the pets we have taken in,” Green said. “Although the pets will be up-to-date on their shots, the adoption will require the new owners to agree to have the animal spayed or neutered. We have several veterinarians in the area who have agreed to offer a discount for that procedure if they adopt from us.”

Green said the special adoption discounts and open-house-style adoption day is the first of its kind for the center.

“This is the first time we’ve done a discount or special day for pet adoptions,” Green said. “We plan on holding these kind of adoption days on a somewhat regular basis.”
