The Benton-Franklin Humane Society had a unique kind of fundraiser Saturday.
They partnered with Masterson Construction and Mercer Construction for a pet adoption event at a home for sale.
The new house on the 400 block of Charbonneau in Richland is for sale and money from the house sale will go to the Humane Society. Paula Mercer-Butterworth, Mercer Construction builder, says the partnership is something they want to continue.
“Every person in our company, we just love animals and we realize it’s a human’s responsibility to care for animals. So we now want to partner with the Humane Society through all of our events,” says Mercer-Butterworth.
The two construction companies built the new Benton-Franklin Humane Society’s no kill shelter and will use the fundraiser money toward an outdoor dog run.
There are currently seventy-five dogs at the shelter up for adoption.
