A break-in. A flood. What’s next for Sherwood’s cat shelter? Locusts?

They say bad things happen in threes.

Let’s hope not.

Not long after Sherwood’s Cat Adoption Team was hit with a small flood resulting in more than $130,000 in damage, comes news that the someone broke into a surgical trailer, stealing a laptop computer and a cylinder of cat anesthetic over the weekend.

Kathy Covey, a spokeswoman for the largest nonprofit adoption agency for cats in the Pacific Northwest, said thieves pried open a window to enter the trailer parked in the shelter’s back parking lot either Saturday or Sunday.

In addition to the computer, a small canister of isoflurane, an anesthetic that is inhaled during surgery, was taken from the shelter at 14175 S.W. Galbreath Drive, she said. The drug is sometimes used in human surgery as well.
