Students at Wilson Elementary School are doing their part to help an animal shelter keep its doors open.
“It was so rewarding encouraging my peers in school to help raise money for these beautiful animals,” said third-grader Madison Hicinbothem, 9.
As part of the school’s Character Counts program, students in Carrie Gammoh’s third-grade class conducted a fundraiser to benefit the Sayreville Pet Adoption Center on Main Street.
“Every year, our school has a theme and this year’s theme is Character Counts at Wilson School,” Gammoh said. “Every month there is a different character trait that is emphasized.”
March’s theme was “encouraging,” she said.
