Davis County Animal Services has entered into an agreement with Best Friends Animal Society to add a full-time pet adoption specialist.
The county will receive $14,500 from the animal society, Davis County Animal Services Director Clint Thacker said.
On Tuesday, the Davis County Commission received the funds from the animal group.
“It’s like one-time money, specifically for the full-time adoption specialist. The agreement covers about half the cost of the salary for the (position),” Thacker said.
The remaining half of the salary will be paid for by the county, he said.
The position has been filled, and the person will start Monday. The person who filled the position is an individual who had been volunteering their time with the shelter, Thacker said.
The hope is that the position will help the shelter maintain the momentum it has experienced lately in adopting out pets, Thacker said.
