Cadette troop to hold pet adoption effort Sunday –

Cadette Girl Scout Troop 11794 in Rancho Cucamonga is working on its Silver Award Project by spending two days trying to get older dogs and cats adopted through the Rancho Cucamonga Pet Care and Adoption Center.

Their project is called “Operation Happy Pets.”

The troop is partnering with the shelter and Petsmart on Sunday and April 29 from 1-4 p.m. at the Ontario Petsmart 4120 E. 4th St., Ontario.

The troop members will have an educational booth and free goody bags filled with pet supplies for those who adopt, spay, or neuter their pets. Pets will be available for adoption at this event.

The troop is also getting the word out about the importance of spaying and neutering pets. Most people want to adopt puppies and kittens, which leaves the older pets spending their lives waiting for a good home or facing an untimely, unneccessary death.
