A spring adoption event at a local animal shelter Saturday meant several dogs were going home with new owners.
The “Helpful Honda Pet Adoption Event,” put on by the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center, was busy but in a good way, said Barbara Hansen, community program specialist.
“Today, we’ve had 20 volunteers here, walking dogs and talking to people about spay and neuter,” Hansen said.
The special adoption fee for an adult dog was $50 and each person who adopted one got a free leash and collar provided by Honda.
Veterinarian technician Vilma Callejo Johnson said potential adopters were informed about the health of the animals they were interested in.
“We check the ears, their eyes … We really try to make sure that for the most part, we are adopting out healthy animals,” Johnson said.
