Creature Comfort Shelter offers many services to help homeless abused pets

Duchess, a two-year-old pointer and hound mix with a black and white coat, is standing on her hind legs, as tall as she can, craning her neck around and watching with eager eyes.

Someone has just walked into the dog adoption area at the Sevier Count Animal Shelter and she’s certain this is her chance to leave this kennel for the freedom of the world she knew before her owner had to give her up. She does a little dance, moving up and down the walls of her cage repeatedly while bouncing on her back paws until the person makes their way to her little part of the room and she can’t contain herself anymore.

“Hhhoooooowwwweeewww,” she bays, followed by a string of excited, staccato barks.
