Largest dog adoption drive attracts 2000-strong crowd

For a year, Gary, a corgi-jack russell mix, was tied up on a balcony in his owner’s home in Geylang, and given little food and water.

Acting on a tip-off, animal welfare group Action for Singapore Dogs (ASD) rescued him and nursed the malnourished, traumatised mutt back to health.

On Saturday, the nine-year-old put on his best behaviour at a dog adoption event, wagging his tail at the crowd that turned up at the National Geographic Channel (NGC) Free Pet Shop drive, hoping a kind person would take him home.
