More animals will likely be saved from euthanasia in the Lowcountry thanks to an expansion at Hilton Head Humane. The extra room means the no-kill facility will be able to take in more animals from the county shelter…thus giving them a second chance at life
“This building allows us to take in 23 additional dogs and then we have additional cat adoption rooms that allow us to bring in an additional 15 cats so that we can put them up for adoption,” Director Frannie Gerthoffer said.
The new space finally came to fruition over the past few months and is one of the exciting changes happening here. Hilton Head Humane has also officially joined with Ridgeland’s Spay Neuter Alliance Clinic (SNAC) and can now serve more pet owners with free or reduced medical services.
“Being in this partnership with SNAC, we are also able to continue our program here which is a no-cost program for families who need any more assistance because of any type of financial difficulty they might be going through, we’ll accommodate them for free,” Gerthoffer said.
And some more exciting news–just this past Saturday night, Hilton Head Humane was awarded “Organization of the Year” by the Hilton Head-Bluffton Regional Chamber of Commerce.
