Last week I quoted our E.D, who semi-jokingly has said that life at the shelter isn’t all puppies and rainbows. But you know what? There are LOTS of rainbows and it’s important to acknowledge them. I’d like to share some of the warm fuzzy stories with you. Just take a look at the success story page on our website if you’d like to read more.
I’ve learned that there’s a person somewhere for every animal. I think of Ludwig, a white cat I came to love who was deaf. His voice was so loud that he irritated the other cats in the adoption room and a lot of people too. Yet the person who adopted him fell in love with him because of that voice.
I remember Manuche, the cranky kitty who didn’t like anyone. She is happy and thriving now, adopted by someone who admired her feisty spirit.
FresnoOur cat Adoption Centre is completely staffed by volunteers, about 40 of them. This amazing group of people has become expert at helping some of the special needs cats find loving homes. With patience, creativity and persistence they find ways to deal with individual challenges.
