El Paso Pet Adoption Challenge – KTSM News Channel 9

To make the holidays merrier for homeless pets, the City of El Paso Animal Services Program is challenging the community to help find loving homes for shelter animals.The adoption challenge starting today and running through the end of the month aims to save the lives shelter pets. Annually, more than 18,000 animals are euthanized in El Paso as a consequence of unplanned and uncontrolled pet breeding.

Through the adoption challenge, Animal Services hopes to place at least 215 shelter pets in permanent homes. Last year, 208 shelter pets were adopted in the month of December.

“We’re asking the community to join us in this month-long adoption challenge by welcoming a shelter pet into their families this holiday season. Every animal deserves a loving home,” said Environmental Services Director Ellen Smyth, who oversees Animal Services.
