AWLMC Opens Its Doors
(Gaithersburg, MD, December 1, 2011): The Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County (AWLMC) will be giving out up to 100 free cat spay/neuter certificates for the holidays between now and December 31st to those cat owners unable to afford to get their cats altered. Getting cats spayed/neutered is an important process and provides many benefits. It helps to reduce companion animal overpopulation. Many animals are often left stray or euthanized as a result of overpopulation. Also, sterilization of your cat will increase his/her chance of a longer and healthier life by an average of three to five years. As of September 22, 2011, 965 spay/neuter certificates have been issued from AWLMC to help owners who cannot afford to get their animals altered.
