Pet adoption event a ‘huge success’ – Alamogordo Daily News

All That Jazz, a Labrador-blue heeler mix, was one of the lucky ones. Previously scheduled for annihilation, Jazz was adopted Saturday at the Animal Village N.M. 2011 Fur Fiesta.

Senior Airman Andrew Adrian, of Alamogordo, selected the dog for his family.  “We’ve got a baby on the way and we want the baby to grow up with a companion,” Adrian said.   His wife, Michelle, added, “I’m the one who wanted one. I’ve been asking him for an animal.”   Their son, to be named Andrew II, is due on Valentine’s Day, she said.

The weekend was a big success for AVNM, director Sunny Aris said Monday.

“We had a fantastic adoption weekend. Eight adoptions were completed Saturday and four more are in progress,” she said. “We had more than 100 people here. This campaign raised $5,400 in cash, donations and prizes. Our expenses were zero. Everything was donated.”
