Home 4 the Holidays … And Ever After! – Ballston-Virginia Square, VA Patch

Saturday morning arrived with piercing bright sunshine glinting on a hint of frost. The air was more than crisp, it was downright COLD, but that did not slow down the pace of hundreds of busy volunteers preparing for Northern Virginia’s second largest regional pet adoption event.

The annual “Home 4 The Holidays” adoption event produced by GoodDogz.org was held at Reston Town Center, and featured 40+ rescue organizations and more than a dozen pet-centric vendors from Virginia, Maryland and D.C. With more than 3,000 visitors attending throughout the day, this event is second only to the annual “Pet Fiesta” which is held in May at Reston Town Center and is also presented by GoodDogz.org.

Dedicated volunteers from area rescue groups were busy right up until opening time unloading warm dog beds and blankets, crates, wire fencing, leashes, water bowls, treats, and a bevy of very excited dogs and puppies of all sizes, breeds and mixes. For these dogs, the Home 4 The Holidays event is an extremely important opportunity to be seen, petted and “interviewed” by thousands of potential adopters all in one place. The excitement was high, as evidenced by the multitude of wagging tails and frisky jumping, but these pooches were on their best behavior in hopes of catching the eye of a loving family.
