It’s a feline frenzy at area animal shelters.

Two large-scale animal rescues this week in addition to the ongoing kitten season has left shelters with little room at the inn.

That’s why shelter directors hope the public will decide it’s a perfect time to get a “certified lap warmer” to shield them from the cold weather this weekend.

“If you are thinking of adopting, now is the time,” says Sharon Harmon, executive director of the Oregon Humane Society. “Every cat that goes home this weekend opens up a needed space that helps fight overcrowding at shelters.”
