The Columbia-Greene Humane Society has more cats than it can manage and Saturday, they tried to get those cats into good new homes.
The Humane Society held a free cat adoption day Saturday. The cats come spayed or neutered and up to date on their shots.
The Humane Society’s say Hurricane Irene is to blame for much of their overcrowding.
“We always have a lot of cats, but now we have even more cats as a result of the hurricane. There were a lot of displaced cats. We’ve been fostering some for families that are trying to establish new homes, but there are some cats that were simply lost and abandoned,” said Ron Perez, Columbia-Greene Humane Society President.
