All cat adoptions at Riverside County animal shelters through Oct. 31 will be free, courtesy of the L.A. Animal Alliance, the newest friend of Riverside County Animal Services.
The organization is using grant funds from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to assist in the free-cat-adoption program.
Riverside County Animal Services had been offering cats for adoption at $5 each, which included spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations and a microchip.
Now any cat in Riverside County’s shelters in Blythe, Jurupa Valley and the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms can be adopted for free. The L.A. Animal Alliance is subsidizing the $5 fee.
“This is such a nice gesture and we are humbled by the support,” Animal Services Director Robert Miller said. “We appreciate this very much and look forward to more collaborations with the L.A. Animal Alliance in the future.”
