Pet adoption fees are going up in Friendswood.
Rising with them are the expectations that people will comply with city animal control rules.
City Council Monday night (October 17) approved an Animal Control Advisory Committee recommendation increasing the cat adoption fee from $25 to $85.
The fee now includes the cost for spaying or neutering cats, a microchip implant, rabies vaccinations and testing and vaccinations for feline Leukemia, HIV, HCPCh and FeL V.
Also approved was a higher adoption fee for dogs, now $100.
It covers spaying or neutering, a microchip implant, testing and vaccinations for Heartworm, Parainfluenza, Bordatella, rabies and canine 5-way vaccine.
This is the first time fees have been raised since 2001.
