October is national Adopt a Dog Month, and Cowley County Humane Society is celebrating by lowering dog adoption fees by 50 percent throughout the month.
That means adoption fees are $40 or $60, depending on whether the lucky dog or puppy you choose has been previously spayed or neutered.
Whether you’d like a playful puppy, a constant companion to take on walks or maybe a calm older dog, CCHS has what you are looking for.
Cats are also available for adoption. Adult cats are free and kittens are only $10.
All pets come completely vetted: spayed or neutered, with all necessary vaccines, a microchip and a bag of cat or dog food.
To view adoptable pets, go to cowleycountyhumane society.org or call 620-442-1698 or 620-221-1698. CCHS is at 7648 222nd Road in Winfield; shelter hours are noon to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
