San Clemente Dana Point Animal Shelter Breaks Ground on Cat Room Expansion Project – Dana Point Times

After three years of planning and fundraising, the San Clemente-Dana Point Animal Shelter and Pet Project Foundation (PPF) on Monday broke ground on an 1,100-square foot addition to the shelter’s cat room.

The new cat room was named the Lori Hoenow Cat Adoption Center, for a benefactor who left funding for PPF, earmarked specifically for projects promoting the well-being of shelter felines.

The expansion is the product of a joint effort between Coastal Animal Services Authority (CASA) that runs the shelter, and PPF, the nonprofit, all-volunteer organization that provides support with food, exercise, medical care and love.

The addition will have eight suites, housing up to five felines each and includes space for cats to climb, relax and play—key ingredients to happy healthy cats that will make them more easily adoptable.
