The Cat Food Bank of Cat Adoption Team (CAT) will be open 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Oct. 2, to give cat food and litter to pet owners struggling in the current economy.
The cat food bank is located at CAT’s shelter, 14175 S.W. Galbreath Drive.
“Donations are waning, but the demand is increasing,” said Kathy Covey, cat food bank manager at CAT. The program has given away more than 89,000 pounds of cat food since it began in June 2008, Covey said.
Donations of unopened, unexpired dry food are always welcome, as are scoopable or clumping cat litter and cash gifts, Covey said.
Clients may receive food in five out of seven months, and pets in the cat food program must be spayed or neutered.
To find out more about qualifying for the program, call 503-925-8903, or visit www.catadoptionteam.org/catfoodbank.
