Revamped Joliet Township Animal Control holding open house for adoptions – Herald News

Once upon a time, an animal control van was synonymous with euthanasia for nuisance animals, the last call a responsible resident wanted to make. It’s an image Joliet Township Animal Control is working hard to dispel.

“We want to be people’s first call,” said Sarah Gimbel, director of Joliet Animal Control. “We don’t want people to be afraid of animal control. We want everyone to know we’re here to help.”

That’s why Joliet Township Control remade itself, inside and out, and even hired a vet tech to care for its animals. The public may view its new look, tour the facilities and participate in its inexpensive vaccination clinic at A Place to Put My Paws adoption open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
