Prominent Raleigh Caterer, Catering by Design, Helps Launch Local Animal Adoption Center Campaign

On Saturday September 24, 2011, at 7 p.m., the Guardians of Angels Humane Society will kick off a lively community campaign to build a $1.2 million adoption center for cats and dogs at the General Store Café in Pittsboro. The event will include live Beatles music, recognition awards, and a presentation about the Adoption Center.

Catering by Design, a top Raleigh area caterer, is among the local sponsors helping support the event. Catering by Design owner, Chef Greg Lewis resides in Chatham County. “We love animals and supporting the vision for a new cat and dog adoption center under Terry Dorsey’s leadership,” Chef Greg Lewis said.

The September 24 event at The General Store Cafe is $20 per person and $30 per couple to benefit Guardians of Angels. Singer/Songwriter Jon Shain will start the music at 7 p.m, with an acoustic mix of Beatles songs. The Beatles cover band Back Beat will play at 8:30 p.m. Guardians of Angels will present awards and the benefits of an Adoption Center at 8:00 p.m.

Terry Dorsey, who is leading up the Guardians of Angels Humane Society effort said, “Even when done humanely, the euthanasia of any animal is sad especially when so many are adoptable. And it’s well known that having pets helps us humans lead longer, healthier and happier lives.” In 2010, and despite valiant efforts by rescue groups and the Chatham County shelter, about 5 out of 10 dogs and 8 out of 10 cats were euthanized.
