The anticipated increase of homeless cats in New England animal shelters is a harbinger of summer’s end. The season’s evident waning, combined with the impact upon Hurricane Irene on the state of Connecticut, has resulted in an overwhelming influx of cats at the Connecticut Humane Society shelters in Newington, Westport, and Waterford.

This past weekend the Connecticut Humane Society held a Hurricane HELP Cat Adoption event to jumpstart the adoption processes for all of these felines that desperately need loving homes.
