Cat adoption fever hits humane society – Edmonton Sun

Edmonton’s pigskin talent came to the rescue of 500 cats awaiting adoption Friday.

As part of Feline Football Fever, Edmonton Eskimo Patrick Kabongo visited the Edmonton Humane Society shelter to choose a cat named in his honour for next week’s adoption event.

On Sept. 6, 7, and 8, the EHS will waive the adoption fee on its available cats in an effort to encourage people to turn to the shelter first in their search for a pet.

If a promotion at the shelter has a familiar ring, it may be because the supply of homeless cats is ever-abounding, spokeswoman Shawna Randolph said.
