Cat Adoption Story: Deano and the Efirds – Knoxville News Sentinel

It was my husband Paul, a News Sentinel photographer, who encouraged me to adopt a feline companion when he began working nights in 2006. I began visiting the ‘Cat Room’ at Young-Williams Animal Center during lunch breaks to see the kitties. Most of the residents responded to me in some fashion, but none seemed to be the one to bring home. Then one day I came across a beautiful gray male tabby with smoke-ring markings on his sides. He became aware of my interest and promptly fell off his sleeping shelf. He landed on his feet, of course, with an attitude that said, “I totally meant to do that.” I was charmed and knew this was the kitty was for me. His name was Deano.
