Pet-themed activities planned in Scottdale park – Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

The Scottdale Parks and Recreation Commission will be hosting the Dog Days of Summer on Aug. 20 in Garfield Park.

The event will feature several hours of pet-themed activities, vendors, pet adoption opportunities and more.

The commission, which oversees the seven parks in the Scottdale area, has been brainstorming ideas for monthly activities in the park.

“The overall idea was that the parks commission and also the council were trying to get more people involved and get them out into the parks,” said Scottdale Councilman Andy Pinsky. “We also wanted to be able to raise revenue for the parks commission through donations, so that the commission could use the money to buy park benches or garbage cans. That would save the taxpayers money.”
